If you're getting "Permission denied" errors, try running "chmod +x /thepathto/Error143.sh", or if you're not using the terminal, right click the file > properties > permissions > allow executing file as program. However, it's likely you'll get python module errors like "ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'future')".
Either the game doesn't come with all the necessary libraries, or it does but for whatever reason can't find them.
It was easier for me to just import the game into Lutris and running the game with wine. I don't know if this is an issue with linux versions of renpy games in general, or if it's specific to this game.
oH THANKS! but actually, i don't get either of those when i click on the .sh file (usually most games open and a .text file appears) but this one whenever i click run, it doesn't do anything, no errors, no warnings, just nothing :( tho Thanks again 4 ur help! <33
hey! I loved the game so much that I bought the DLC except it's not downloading for some reason & I followed the instructions (I use a Mac) is there something that I'm missing?
This game is so cute and unique! Unlike other dating sims, I actually felt myself getting flustered at time and felt really connected in a way to Micah (not in a weir delusional way), but I actually felt like I was in a slow burn relationship with him. And I litteraly SCREAMED when he showed up irl!! Overall the game is a 10/10 hope to see where the story goes next! <3

I loved the annoying yet endearing banter with Micah. His character design was a dream. The voice acting too was so perfect! Never played a VN with that level of voice acting tbh, it was the cherry on top!

i haven’t played this (yet) but from what i can see from the preview pics this seems to be a game where u can chat and video call the character ur talking to. well anyways i commented to tell u that there’s a game called “A Date with Death” that’s similar to this in the aspect of the chat room and stuff. it’s just that instead of hacker rivals in A Date with Death u make a bet with a silly grim reaper that if he can get ur soul in a week he can keep it and reap ur soul! if he doesn’t manage to get it you can keep it and live. it’s a pretty cute and funny game! i definitely recommend :3

oh u should probably play a game thats not so popular, its named KLEIN or something similar, i also recommend "Where winter crows go", its such a good game and its not so long
There's a game called "SeekL" which is very simmilar to this one!! That game actually made me obsessed with this kind of stuff. There's also "Killer Chat" where instead of hackers you got killers (don't know if you're into that but I am :^...) but the game really makes you feel like your talking with someone real and not playing a game!! Both are free and can be found on here. I really recommend checking them out !! :3 (sorry for any gammar mistakes, english is not my firts language ;-;)
I love this game, just like to point out that there is another error (ha) on mac where you get "The application "ERROR143" cannot be opened".
However I also figured out the solution: Instead of using the inbuilt Archive utilities to unzip the .zip file, right click the .zip file and unzip with the Unarchiver. You'll probably get the “the developer cannot be verified.” error but you have instructions for that already in the walkthrough doc, and woo, you can finally play on mac.
I got this game (and DLC on Steam after playing, it was just too good), it was a great game. I'm new to itch games but have a feeling this game probably inspired many other games trying to be as great as it is.

I know this is super late, but if it isn't a problem with your volume settings (on your computer) then it's probably the setting INSIDE the game. So go to prefs/settings in E143, and fix the volume stuff there. Otherwise... I'm not sure.
A bit short, but still very fun! This type of love interest isn't usually my type because I'm not really into piercings and stuff and I'm more into slow-burn stories with lots of buildup, but Micah was really adorable. I liked the interactions and all that banter! It would have been nice if there were a lot more endings and choices, but since it was fully voiced I can totally understand why it was done like this - the voice actor was such a perfect fit btw. Loved it!
